as far as openly, both mens weight and height are more commonly mocked than womens weight. womens weight has more implications how they're treated though.

i know socially awkward people can be mean or nice, but how do you know when a mean person is being an asshole vs. socially awkward?

do you mean "openly" instead of commonly? because i'd say that's the difference.
regular asshole is someone who knows they're being mean. someone on the spectrum may not realize they're being mean cause they can't pick up social cues. despite what ontd says intention matters.
