The ideal model for a writer’s career should be Marcel Proust - be born rich, live it up in high society for a while, isolate yourself in your bedroom for 10 years writing the best novel of all time, self publish the first part after it gets rejected everywhere, then die just as people are starting to appreciate your genius.
