But it’s still a comparable product. No matter the difference in ingredients it will never be comparable to a high end place and that’s how you’re making Kpop out to be
american songwriters say american pop is more predictable than kpop and that kpop is too unpredictable for american radio
"The performances come across as soulless and robotic because that’s how they’re trained. Nobody follows Kpop for the artists passion and artistry. They want something shiny sparkly and predictable"
The delusion. It’s all easily digestible pop music. If Ariana or Dula Peep sang it Americans would listen. Similarly if a kpop group released a Dua Lipa or Ariana song under their name you’d be singing their praises and talking about how much better it is from American pop.
Kpop stans wouldn’t still Stan their idols if they had the same level of artistry or passion but without the plastic surgery, expensive outfits, dance routines and elaborate sets
However, they’d still be stanning if their idols had the glitz and glamour with none of their artistry and passion
They’re all replaceable and that’s why a new group pops up every second. Everything about them is heavily manufactured, including the artistry and passion that you think exists (it doesn’t)
you're calling professional songwriters delusional. they say that these songs wouldn't be easily digestible on american radio today. now kpop is more unpredictable than american pop

"They’re all replaceable and that’s why a new group pops up every second. Everything about them is heavily manufactured, including the artistry and passion that you think exists (it doesn’t)"
it's unsurprising that you think that all kpop singers are the same. reality check, just like american pop some have more artistry and passion than others. some are talented singers, some are talented dancers, some are talented songwriters, some don't have much singing or dancing talent but are charismatic performers, some are in kpop just to get their foot in the door of the entertainment industry, some are rich kids looking for excitement, some are idols just because they are very good looking, some are foreign koreaboos who managed to get into the industry. all of them are very hard working
You link this same video every time. They don’t speak for all songwriters
And those differences you mentioned are marginal. At the end of the day they’re just another cog in the machine. Just there to make money for their company. No artistic vision to be fulfilled despite what their marketing team might try to tell you. If they really cared about being true artists they wouldn’t be in an idol group.
Kpop stans are there for pretty faces and catchy music. Take that away, give them more challenging music and uglier faces and they won’t stan anymore.
if any american pop star cared about being a true artist they wouldn't sign to a record label. like american pop singers, some kpop singers have artistic vision and some are doing what they are told to do. most get more autonomy in their music as their career progresses. some were writing their own music from day one
other songwriters have said the same about how uninventive american pop is and they are right. they've also said that korean and japanese a&r is better than american
"Kpop stans are there for pretty faces and catchy music. Take that away, give them more challenging music and uglier faces and they won’t stan anymore."
what mainstream american pop these days is challenging? why is catchy a bad thing? koreans are used to it, but kpop is more challenging to the american ear
Beyoncé also says she writes her own music when she really just changes one word. Pop stars claim to write their own songs all the time for artistic cred. It’s usually marketing.
Japanese music critics from America and Japan talk about how uncreative Japanese mainstream music is so ik you’re just pulling that out of your ass because you’re a fetishist.
Did I ever say American pop music was challenging? No. You’re making kpop out to be so much better than American music when it’s the same thing. You’re making it out like kpop stans are there for more than a pretty face and catchy music, which they aren’t. They don’t care about their artistry or their passion. That’s not what kpop is about.
Kpop would only be challenging because it’s in Korean. Again if Dula Peep or Ariana sang it it would be fine. Children and tweens listen to kpop. It’s not challenging.
Those men are ugly to you because ONTD has high standards of beauty but they’re probably conventionally attractive to society at large
