When did it become common for places to sell pillows as a single? I haven't had to replace mine in years and could have sworn they came in sets of 2 by default. Now it's like half the search results are for 1 standard/queen sized pillow or 1 king. Who buys only one pillow??

I think once memory foam pillows became more popular. I typically only get those one at a time since they’re more functional and you only need one.

I guess that kind of makes sense but don't most single adults sleep in a double bed so they would need two pillows even if they only use one? Or am I overthinking it lmao

You’re right. I just think it’s an example of lower end products taking advantage of higher end packaging to make more money.
