The TL;DR is that Black Americans are projecting the 1980's crackdown on Drugs (AKA the Ronald Reagan "War On Drugs"), that cracked down heavily on weed specifically with VERY long prison sentences, indirectly impacted Black People on a mass scale and lead to the creation of the prison industrial complex and the disenfranchisement of many black communities.
former criminology major here! weed restrictions are actually associated w/ anti-hispanic racism, not anti-black racism. crack/cocaine restriction is associated w/ anti-black racism & opium/heroin restrictions are associated w/ anti-asian racism.
thanks for this info! does it apply to the IOC? i think the racism mostly applies to how these laws are applied in the legal system, but it seems like the olympics are just as hard on white athletes right? so i'm not seeing the connection for this situation
hold up, homegirl tested positive AT the trials?! not AFTER? she was smoking pot during competition? girl, gtfo! my sympathy just fucking evaporated. i thought she tested positive now before a new separate competition. fuck that, she should not be getting a place on the team at all.
her mom had just died and she was probably incredibly depressed and not thinking properly. have you ever made a mistake in your life or self-medicated with drugs/alcohol after a traumatic event or loss? because i certainly have.
therearewords's icon is triggering....i cannot stand seeing it anymore because it makes me want to gouge my eyeballs out reading her ridiculous comments
