We need someone/couple who are van dwellers with DIY skills to come and spruce up our chicken runs and help get our Pig enclosure ready. We have 45 chickens and will soon be getting 2 new piggies. Daily care, cleaning, rat proofing etc. In August we have a group coming to practice some cob techniques on a 400 year old barn. You will be welcome to join that course and learn new skills. Its called a Work Exchange....i get free labour, the volunteers help out and learn new skills, not only the cob but other skills too. You'll get all your groceries, laundry, toiletries, electric , communal kitchen, communal lounge and bar, pool table etc for free. At a later date they're will be the opportunity to pitch up as a guests on our new 10 pitch off grid camp site if your back visiting this way.
It costs me a fortune in food, about £4k per year in electric,
£2k per year on insurance, a fortune to replace broken, misplaced, and sadly sometimes "accidentally" pinched tools, and more.
But the people that do come initially for a month often end up staying for much longer. They make new friends, they meet people that need paid workers now and again, it gives people a chance to get jobs on their vans done, we have welding equipment, a mechanic on site, experienced van lifers who can help convert vans etc...
We ask for 30 hours per week. Often they do more cos they enjoy what they're doing and don't see it as a job.
Some communal cleaning is expected in your own kitchen/bar, recycling. , bins, etc.
Pls dont go quoting me hours per day, daily rates etc because that has no relevance here.
I have a stone mason and a cob builder on site, A Tree surgeon, mechanic, gardeners, artist etc.. All volunteering.... Oh and to get my house and land, i did 2 jobs most of my life, saved, bought , did up and sold on had my kids late at 39 + years old and don't feel bad for owning land. If this isnt for you then fine... If it is then please pm me... SORRY NO DOGS OR CHILDREN.
Most of us here are meat eaters...but it doesn't matter to us if your not so long as it doesn't matter to you that we are...
