going to the airport is such a chore lol

like...my flight tn doesnt board until 6:45 but I think I need to call my uber at 5? idk im so bad at estimating shit. it says on google maps it'll take 27-32 mins right now but I feel like ubers are taking like 15-20 minutes to come lately. but i dont want to get there a whole damn hour before boarding with nothing to do. but then there's always the off chance that something goes wrong and you actually need an hour even though i have pre-check

i am jealous of people that have the privilege of not caring. i am too anxious about unexpected traffic, accidents/road closures and always leave for the airport way too early. making it by the skin of my teeth is such a foreign concept to me as a poc.

I'm extremely white lol but I always show up everywhere way too early!! I fucking hate being late or even the possibility of being late so for work, appointments, etc I'm always early. It's the only good thing my anxiety has done for me

ayrt i was worried this might devolve into race wank so thank you for your very nice reply nona. i'm glad there are still people like us that show up early lol. it doesn't help that in my city there are not enough uber and lyft drivers so cancellations happen all the time or they take forever to show up.

SA and you're welcome nona. Luckily I have my own car so I'm not at the mercy of the bus or Uber lol. That would probably send me spiraling tbh 😅

an hour with nothing to do? like wtf walk around... window shop... sit in a chair and people watch. how boring do you have to be to not be able to entertain yourself for an hour in an airport?

what does being a poc have to do with road closures or traffic?

the one time i got to the airport late due to road closure i ran up to the ticketing counter all out of breath and sweaty. and wouldn't you know it, i got singled out for extra screening. maybe it was a coincidence, maybe i looked suspicious. anyway now i try to get to the airport at least two hours before my flight.
