meow_tan July 2 2021, 20:57:14 UTC COLLAPSE and yeah I absolutely acknowledge that she was only 15 and a dumb teenager but this is the same site that dragged Billie eilish for lipsyncing at 13
And I thought it was silly then too, only Billie is a wealthy white celebrity is going to get way more benefit of the doubt and defense than Sha’carri will.
she was defending chris brown and being homophobic like a year ago this defense makes no sense. billie got no benefit of the doubt and she was 13 when she mouthed edgy lyrics to a tyler the creator song.
meow_tan July 2nd, 2021, 04:50 pm (local) You’re assuming everyone upset with you bringing this up are also people who dragged Billie and Demi and Taylor. Are you sure they are? Do you think ONTD is a hive mind?
To me it just seems like you’re backtracking, instead of standing your ground and saying you want to hold her accountable you’re deflecting saying “well ontd does it with everyone else!!”, assuming the people critiquing your comment are the same people condoning what happened with Billie and etc.
Because personally I’ve been pretty exhausted with the constant dragging and old tweet pulling up and etc especially in unrelated posts.
"Two 18-year-old female runners from Namibia, Christine Mboma and Beatrice Masilingi, won't be allowed to run in the 400 metres at the Tokyo Olympics after medical tests showed they have high natural testosterone levels."
tbh from the comments in both posts it's suspicious how ontd seems more upset about someone getting disqualified for choosing to smoke weed when knowing it was against the rules than they are about two girls getting disqualified for something they literally have no control over.
Bending over backwards to defend Black people even when they've done something wrong and writing fanfiction as to why they did what they did and so it's there by justified is dehumanizing. Not treating Black people like what they are, people who can and will make mistakes, is dehumanizing. It's not the uplifting thing ONTD thinks it is.
I'm glad weed is legal where I live and I hope it's legalized in more places in the US, because POC are imprisoned for it at disproportional rates. That doesn't mean that it's not still a drug and that there's legit reasons you can't use at the OLYMPICS it since it can mask other drugs or help with performance anxiety/recovery. There are other banned drugs/ingredients that serve purposes other than doping, can even help with certain health conditions, but they're still banned since they could also contribute to an unfair advantage or mask other drugs.
·Smoking weed before the Olympics = a stupid choice, against the rules, banned ·Using a swim-cap against regs, that may give you an advantage = against the rules, banned ·Having high T levels, that give you a natural, but technically unfair advantage and get's into steroid abuse levels for normal T level women = against the rules, banned
Can someone please explain to me how any of this is unreasonable or racist.
I want Jin, Suga, and jimin. Anime cosplay keep me lickin' I want j hope, V, and jungkook. Lolita cosplay keep me singin' Now you know the cat's meow means Meow Tan, Meow Tan. Meow, meow, meow.
champagnemami July 2nd, 2021, 09:47 pm Now it’s… “it’s not the same!!” Like nah… either rules are rules with no exceptions or they aren’t. Let’s not play both sides.
spiral_mystik July 2nd, 2021, 10:00 pm But it's not. These girls can't control their level of testosterone. They're born that way. That rule is completely sexist, racist and humiliating. You aren't born with a certain amount of marijuana in your body. It's always the result of recent weed consumption, which can be controlled.
champagnemami July 2nd, 2021, 10:05 pm Rules are still rules according to people on this site. Rules can change. This is a rule that’s been in place and is a wrong rule IMO as well as the marijuana rule. It’s not comparing, it’s saying that BOTH can be looked at as wrong and archaic. Both rules were set in place on archaic basis and it’s okay for people to be pissed at both and not believe either situation is a “welp! Rules are rules!”
And for anyone else who wants to spread the misinformation that marijuana use was banned for possibly masking performance enhancing drugs, it’s not. It was made under the same archaic bullshit that has kept it illegal.
spiral_mystik July 2nd, 2021, 10:24 pm I'm not saying that some of the IOC rules aren't archaic and in need of revision. I'm not saying that rules can't change. But the comparison makes no sense.
It's just not the same. Saying "but rules are rules, right!" as a gotcha moment, completely ignores that context matters. One rule applies to every athlete, the other targets a certain group of women who can't help who they are. One is a rule punishing a behavior (as dumb as you think it is), the other is discrimination based on sex/biology.
champagnemami July 2nd, 2021, 10:29 pm But NEITHER should be looked at as rules are rules is the point of everyone calling it ridiculous to say that. Rules aren’t rules and shouldn’t just be blindly accepted and saying “rules are rules” by it’s definition means that rules are there and should be followed. It’s not people comparing both situations as being the same in whether it’s something by choice or not by choice, it’s people saying that at an individual level, both are stupid and ridiculous. People here wanted to be condescending in their “well rules are rules” so here’s it right back.
spiral_mystik July 2nd, 2021, 10:44 pm Then this post isn't the one to make that point. Because it's absolutely as if ya'll were dying to make that dumb comparison between a rule punishing recreational drug use and a rule violating people's rights. It's ridiculously tone-deaf to try the petty "well, rules are rules, right!". Keep it for another post where the context matches.
champagnemami July 2nd, 2021, 10:47 pm Nah. I’ll keep it in this post where people were being dismissive to black people’s opinions on the stupidity of the rule and the olympics as a whole. I’m absolutely within my bounds to be pissed at the rules and bring my same energy to both posts!
It's funny all these people bitching and whining whenever they fuck up, break a rule, something doesn't go their way. I'm white and I remember being told over and over in school that the real world doesn't care about your excuses, you have to hand things in time, follow rules at work etc. They really wanted to stress the importance of personal responsibility. If you're trying to go to the Olympics, follow the rules! Because you're the one who's gonna fuck up and miss out, no one cares if you think the marijuana rule is unfair, it's still the rule.
